Rockefeller Santaby *packgrad2k1

A Salvation Army Santa near Rockefeller center. This particular Santa was making balloon animals just before this shot. I didn't realize until I had these processed that there were two other people wearing Santa hats when I took this photo from the hip. This was taken with a Holga camera just prior to Christmas.

If you don't mind me asking a noob question, what's a Holga camera?

Holgas are a toy camera that has gained a following due to the look of the image produced. No two are the same, and they're basically all pieces of sh*t.

I recommend googling "Holga camera" to see more info, as well as image samples.

Wow! This was at the hip!? I can always appreciate flim photography, it's hard but its clarity cant be beat.

This was shot from the hip! I saw the Santa ahead of time, and set my Holga's focus to be for a group shot (I think they say that's 6-9 feet) and then as I walked by I held it at my right hip and fired the shutter. I didn't want the Santa to know I was taking his photo and then pose, which would have changed the shot, probably for the worse.
