The Fire Below

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I hope they're right. Over the past few weeks, I've been doing research on 4x5 camera systems and large format photography. I came across the website of Elsa Dorfman (www.elsadorfman.com) who uses a 20x24 polaroid camera that weighs 200+pounds! A friend of hers is Philip Greenspun, and I came across this photo [link] while searching through his faves.

Well, I liked it! I was planning to do some work the following day w/ two friends, and decided to do a re-mix on this image. My basic goal was to re-create the lighting. I like how soft this is. So, I asked Jamen to put on some crazy boxers, and red was the best he had. I was sad there were no superman underoos, spideywear, polka dot boxers... I love my fun boxers. So red it is.

Some PS work, a little sharpening, and here it is. I also have a few other versions, but I like this better. White boxer briefs are fun, as is no underwear, but this takes the cake.
